TWO DOMES - ONE GOD

The Duomo is THE landmark for Florence. Brilliant design and amazing execution put Florence on the map. Up close and personal, the frescos are astonishing. The church WAS the greatest art patron, but seeing political leaders' portraits is just plain fun (after what felt like 3,000 steps).
I did not know how much the Byzantine art forms were layered way before the cathedral was constructed.
Becoming a world class city was an most ambitious adventure: civically, morally and in every aspect of life.
