Oscar Concert
It was a breath-taking and historical event. For the first time EVER the Academy Studio Symphony presented all the nominated soundtracks and songs. Imagine the concert hall at UCLA filled with other musicians, composers and scholars from all over the world, then close your eyes and turn up the volume for your favorite movie and put it in ultra-surround sound with 108 LIVE performers. It was transcendent. The visuals were projected on a huge screen - no need for dialogue. My heart actually leapt into my chest during the soundtrack from Gravity and the audience leapt to its feet at least three times. John Williams was like a little Yoda Master, the moderator (formerly from South Chicago) was in his own enormous heaven and I was transported to another place and time in experiencing the power of music. I will never forget the evening!

Hollywood Wednesday
OK, so they haven't asked us to be in any movies, but we saw all the Animated and Live Action Shorts and clips from documentaries - plus felt the growing buzz and increasing bling. We were so ditsy, we took our photo in the mirror.Haven't mastered the art of selfies OR wrinkles...

Oscar Week -Day by Day
The town is more than buzzing: You can feel the electricity of 86 years worth of heroism, innovation and passion - with a heady dose of eccentricity over a thick layer of glamour. Tonight we see the Documentaries that were nominated for awards this year. Last night was Animated and Live Action Shorts (films, not clothing).

Oscar Week
Soooo
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is actually a non-profit and does an amazing amount of philanthropic work. One series of events that I'd never known about is Oscar Week - a series of intimate presentations to the public of all the talents of documentarians, shorts, animated features, make-up, hairstyling, foreign films, music. While the awards ceremony is a few hours long, this ramp ip goes all week and WE ARE HERE! This is the table (including a piece of THE Red Carpet) Lauren set up for us in her apartment.
Let the week begin! Curtain's up!!!
