Final images of Sun Valley
As the fire came dangerously close to the house, Chuck was down on the river bank furiously capturing years of our hosts memories of campfires, sunset BBQ's, sleeping in a teepee or renovated Sheepherder's wagon. I am sure that the design and building of the house was a monumental project - filling it with life, delightful conversation, extraordinary food and creativity seemed effortless.

Smoke (formerly Sun) valley
We helped our hosts gather their prized possessions and got to safety. These photos were taken 10 seconds apart from their driveway and the last one one was taken the way to dinner at an elegant club. A sort of surreal evening with the hum of C-131s and bombers attacking the ridge in the backgroud. A time to appreciate the unrelenting and fierce beauty of mature -if one could only stop coughing.

Places to stay en route to Sun Valley
Shoshone's finest and Winnemucca's most famous (family owned since 1927 and nowfor sale). Visit (or buy) them soon. Could be the end of an era.

Used Wagon Lot
These sheepherders wagons have dotted the landscape for generations. This marvelously eccentric fellow in Stanley (population 50) finds them and refurbishes them along with collecting every bit of Western memorabilia: spurs, guns, chaps, buckles and garters (those brothels again).

Morning modeling
The Big Wood beckoned and we replied: painting and fishing early Sunday morning. I've been told that people here worship on the water. Caught a fish on my first cast. No kidding! We have photos taken by John Finger and the river guide. since I didn't want my iphone to go wading, thought commissioning s painting would be more fun.

WTF: Winnemucca
What DOES Winnemucca mean? And what do people do to make a living there? Pondering these questions from Reno to Elko on the way to Sun Valley.
One thing we know, it's NOT the place to shop for bridesmaids' dresses.
